Only Aladdin had a magic carpet, but SZETT, i.e. the Society of Carpet Designers, takes you to the world of fabulous carpet creations, along the intersection of tradition and innovation, under the auspices of preserving and creating value.
The association was established at the beginning of 2017 in order to draw attention to the innovative representatives of Hungarian carpet design and to introduce the "cool factor" into the field of designer carpets. SZETT's goal is that carpet design not only revives the old carpets of our grandmothers, but becomes a truly fresh, modern art form. SZETT is made up of designers who work wholeheartedly to reinterpret traditional carpet making.
In light of all this, the association regularly organizes workshops and presentations in the SZETT Studio in MaxCity. Here, the latest trends meet the most modern techniques, and this is how permanent, artistically valuable carpet creations that quickly become part of our everyday life are born. SZETT is really not kidding when it comes to carpets: events such as the RUG ART FEST Contemporary Carpet Designers' Meeting give the most creative designers an opportunity. The work of the best is recognized with the ARANYVILLA Handmade Carpet Weaver Lifetime Achievement Award created by SZETT. SZETT also considers social responsibility to be important: they regularly organize auctions where the proceeds are donated to charitable causes. In addition, internships and applications are advertised for university and high school students to involve them in this unique community.
