The home of contemporary art

A gallery space with special features, where contemporary works can be presented and broadcast their messages on nearly 400 square meters, without compromise, under optimal conditions.

Gallery MAX presents the best of contemporary Hungarian art in large-scale exhibitions that change from month to month. At the same time, it does not shy away from presenting foreign artists, groups, and artistic trends from time to time to create an opportunity for comparison, thereby reinterpreting the place occupied by Hungarian art in the international space. Contemporary gallery. However, it is important to know that contemporary is not just the same as what is today. Contemporary is not the same as this year, now. Contemporary art is that which reflects today's social, emotional, religious, sensual, economic, spiritual, artistic and philosophical issues, in a way that is distinguishable from any other historical era, with its current artistic form language, use of materials and media. Gallery MAX is not only an exhibition space. A contemporary gallery in the classical sense, which plans to realize its professional construction by managing the circle of artists involved in its operation.

Created in cooperation with MaxCity, Gallery MAX is a powerful, impulsive venue, in addition to exhibitions, the gallery plans many festival-like occasional, pop-up and outdoor events.

The latest selection of VILTIN @ Gallery MAX , daydream_COLORS 2, will open in the second-floor gallery space of MaxCity, redesigned by the internationally renowned Egyptian-American designer Karim Rashid . The exhibition, realized along the curatorial concept of Tibor Iski Kocsis , examines the latest trends in contemporary color use, while also sensitively redefining the boundaries between fine and autonomous applied art works.

One of the central aims of daydream_COLORS 2 is to examine the reciprocal relationships between works of painting, plastic art and applied art. Abstract patterns and textures, stepping out into space, become visible in their materiality, and thus colors have not only a visual, but also a tactile, physical presence. The selection thus draws attention not only to contemporary painting practices, but also to the experimental tendencies of autonomous applied art, where the use of materials, surface and structure have equal aesthetic significance. The transformation of contemporary color use is one of the most important visual turning points of the past decades.

Digital technology, especially the visual environment dominated by screens and displays, has fundamentally modified the experience of color perception. In parallel, technical developments in acrylic paint production have enabled the emergence of previously unimaginable color scales and shades. The exhibitors of daydream_COLORS 2. work within these new aesthetic and technological conditions: their use of color is reflective, yet intuitive, and expresses itself in the language of post-digital visuality. The use of color in classical modernism – especially constructivism and Bauhaus – was built on the aesthetics of systematization, harmony, and functionality. In contrast, the creators of daydream_COLORS 2. represent the disparate, open logic of 21st century visual culture. For them, color is not a static compositional element, but a phenomenon in constant motion, manifesting itself in space, material, and digital reflections.

This approach is close to the concept of post-digital aesthetics, which examines the tension between technological mediation and sensory experience. Daydream_COLORS 2. thus explores not only the visual intensity of colors, but also their materiality. In the case of autonomous works of applied art - textile or ceramic works - the interaction of color and material becomes the structural and conceptual basis of the artwork. In paintings, the same relationship appears in the subtle play of surface and layering, through transparencies and translucencies.

The dialogue between the two artistic fields is therefore not illustrative, but rather perceptual: sight, material and space merge into a unified visual way of thinking. This exhibition documents, in a broader sense, the diversity of the use of color and the experimental spirit of contemporary Hungarian art. The works presented here – whether created in the medium of painting or object creation – all explore new dimensions of visual perception, where color is not merely an aesthetic quality, but also a conceptual tool. daydream_COLORS 2. makes visible the layering of 21st century visual culture, the interoperability between technology and sight and material, the digital and the tactile.

The VILTIN @ Gallery MAX exhibition thus not only represents a current aesthetic trend, but also contributes to the discourse of contemporary art that interprets color and material as fundamental, interdisciplinary elements of visual thinking.
