MAXCITY REBORN – a day of renewal

MAXCITY REBORN condensed into a single day everything that renewal truly means: fresh thinking, new spaces and a design approach that goes beyond the visual. The aim of the event was not only to present the transformed MaxCity, but also to bring visitors closer to the creative process behind the renewal.

How is a design center reborn?

The nearly 20-year-old MaxCity Home Furnishings Shopping Center has become an independent “design city” in recent decades: not only a collection of shops, but also a space for inspiration, a meeting point and a professional environment. However, on the occasion of the anniversary, the question arose: how can all this be rethought in a contemporary way?

The answer was a unique collaboration, rarely seen in Hungary. The concept was conceived by world-renowned designer Karim Rashid, while the Hello Wood team actively participated in the implementation of the plans. The goal was not just an aesthetic update, but to create a space that provides an experience, shows direction and guides the visitor.

Inspiring thoughts from close up

During the morning program, interested parties were able to learn about the history of the renewal through lectures and a special guided tour. Lectures by Péter Oravecz and Hello Wood provided insight into how an international design vision meets local architectural and technical conditions.

During the joint tour, Zsófia Kovács, András Huszár and Kata Maróti talked about the design, the behind-the-scenes details of the collaboration, and the decisions that ultimately determined the character of the spaces.

One of the most defining moments of the day was Karim Rashid's presentation. The designer spoke in a personal tone about how the environment affects our emotions, thinking, and everyday functioning. His words well summarized the approach that permeates the new spaces of MaxCity: design is not an end in itself, but creates a connection between people and space.

Collaboration that shapes the experience

The renovation was a result of intensive, collaborative work based on dialogue. Karim Rashid’s vision and Hello Wood’s professional flexibility resulted in solutions that are both spectacular and functional. The flowing forms, the conscious use of color and the unified visual system all serve to ensure that the visitor instinctively “gets involved” in the rhythm of the space.

In addition to the corridors, the communal spaces, the washrooms, and the interior design elements were also renewed: every detail was shaped along a coherent idea. A space was born that not only presents the world of design, but also actively influences those who enter.

Festive closing, shared experience

The evening continued with a VIP opening, where the focus was on celebrating renewal. The official speeches and the spectacular fashion show were followed by gastronomic experiences, musical accompaniment and a raffle draw – all of which were important not for themselves, but because they made MAXCITY REBORN day a community experience.

More than renewal

MAXCITY REBORN is not a closed chapter, but the beginning of a new direction. A design center that aims to remain a space of inspiration, where international thinking and domestic professional knowledge meet.

Thank you to everyone who was a part of this day – creators, speakers and visitors alike. The renewed spaces are now open every day to those who want to experience firsthand what it means when design truly comes to life.
