Unnecessary dust collectors or, on the contrary: expressions of our personality and style? Interior designer Katalin Maróti talks about the role of decorative objects in home decoration.
ALREADY IN ANCIENT...
The first decorative objects were also present in ancient civilizations in the form of statues, paintings, and other decorative elements. Since then, the genre of decorating has been constantly developing and changing, but the root remains the same today: the human need to collect objects around him that are beautiful and unique and that express his inner world. The decorative objects will turn the catalog interior into a personal space. Decorations are usually smaller objects that can be easily changed and moved around the space, new compositions can be assembled from the usual pieces with just a few movements, that is, they support change and variety, which brings joy.
CREATING A MOOD WITH A LITTLE CHEAT
Whether it's decorative pillows, vases, pictures or houseplants, these little things contribute a lot to the basic atmosphere of a space - in this sense, decorative objects are infinitely emotional pieces. In addition, they also play a role in optical spatial design: a mirror can make the room seem larger and brighter, and the placement of pictures can also improve the spatial experience. A single statement piece displayed in the right place can bring the entire interior under its spell, and we don't even pay attention to the ceiling height, the small window or other unfavorable details.
LET'S KEEP SCALE
Who doesn't want beauty around them? However, it is easy to go overboard with the decoration, and one day we can find ourselves in a disjointed, confusing and overcrowded interior. So let's keep a measure and pay attention to proportions and color harmony. Objects of too different styles are only very carefully combined, even if it is more fortunate if we decide in favor of a certain style and just "spice up" the view with one special piece.
THIS SPRING'S FAVORITES
In 2024, marble was also discovered as decorative objects, vases, statues and candle holders made of marble represent sophisticated, timeless elegance. In addition, the organic decorative objects, which I also really like, also demand attention. These pieces stand out not because of their pattern or color, but because of their natural shapes, the beauty of their imperfection - they are mandatory decorative accessories for wabi-sabi or Japanese-style interiors, but at the same time, I think that these pieces look like "chameleons" in any space. they show
